Why do I have two AWS accounts when using DuploCloud?

Context When setting up infrastructure with DuploCloud, you may notice that you have two separate AWS accounts - your original AWS account and a new account managed by DuploCloud. This can be confusing, especially if you're wondering whether both accounts are necessary or if one should be removed. Answer Both AWS accounts are necessary and serve different purposes in your infrastructure setup: Management Account (Original AWS Account): Serves as the AWS management account Acts as the payer account for billing management Handles common services such as DNS management Manages organizational-level configurations DuploCloud-Managed Account: Contains your actual workloads and applications Managed by DuploCloud for infrastructure automation Separated from the management account for security and organizational purposes Important Notes: Each AWS account must have a unique root email address - you cannot use the same email for multiple accounts The separation between management and workload accounts is a best practice for security and billing management Both accounts should be retained as they serve complementary roles in your infrastructure To verify your account setup, log in as the root user of your management account and navigate to AWS Organizations, where you can see both accounts listed with their respective root email addresses.
